Our story
Essent Perfumes makes alcohol-free roll-on attars and eau de parfums from a workshop in India. The catalogue runs to 316 fragrances, and every one of them lists its top, heart and base notes, how many hours it holds, and the person it was blended for. Attars are oil, so they sit on the skin rather than flashing off it.

An attar is a concentrated perfume oil with no alcohol in it, so it settles into the skin's own oils, opens slowly and stays close to you. An eau de parfum is alcohol-based, so it lifts off the skin and carries further into the room. We make both lines, and neither is the senior one: the choice is how close you want to be read. The tested range is printed on every product page.
Between five and ten hours for the roll-on attars, depending on the blend and your skin, with oud and amber at the top of that range and fresh citrus nearer five. The eau de parfums carry further into a room and step back sooner. Every product page states its own tested range rather than one brand-wide claim.
Start from the family rather than the bottle. If you want warm and traditional, start in oud and amber; if you want clean and daily, start in fresh citrus; if you want soft and close, start in musk. Every product page also names the wearer it was blended for.
